The training program of the Dallas Society for Bioenergetic Analysis is designed for professionals interested in the theory and practice of Bioenergetic Analysis, developed by Alexander Lowen, M.D. Bioenergetic Analysis is a relational somatic psychotherapy that studies the personality in terms of the body and its energetic processes, breathing, movement and expression. Our training program uses a one-room schoolhouse approach that includes both didactic and experiential methods of learning. The curriculum includes the history of the energetic concept, basic bioenergetic principles, reading the body, techniques for mobilizing energy and expressing feelings, understanding the developmental process in relation to character structure, ethical issues, and the relationship between client and therapist.

The training program consists of three phases, pre-clinical, clinical and final year. For those persons seeking certification as a Bioenergetic Therapists, all three phases are required and take a minimum of four years to complete. In addition, certification requires 150 hours of bioenergetic therapy and 50 hours of bioenergetic supervision. Those not interested in certification remain in the pre-clinical phase. All trainees are required to complete 24 hours of bioenergetic therapy each year they are in the training program.

See the Bioenergetic Brochure page for the training dates. You may download and print this brochure.

Our training program is approved by and affiliated with the
International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis.
